How do we start to rethink how we approach discussing climate change, and consider issues of timeliness, urgency, and ethics? This conversation will explore how artists and curators are reflecting on and reacting to the climate crisis.

Flat Time House is delighted to host an event with artist Sung Tieu for the launch of Parrhesiades, a multi-platform project, working with artists for whom language, either written, spoken or otherwise performed, is an important component in the construction of their work.  As an online platform, a physical location in SE5, an annual reader and with institutional partners for live events and launches.

As part of her exhibition the billion year spree Annika Kahrs has invited a series of guests to create a special programme of performances, concerts and talks.

Saskia Steinmann works at the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Lab of Harvard Medical School, Boston, with the aim to identify biomarkers that predict transition from a high-risk state into a first episode of schizophrenia. From 2010 onwards, the focus of Saskia’s scientific work has been in psychiatric neuroimaging research projects using EEG/ERP, fMRI and DTI with a major interest in the pathophysiological mechanism underlying auditory verbal hallucinations in schizophrenia.

Join us for a day of workshops, performances and discussion, moving between three neighbouring venues in Peckham. Events include artist demonstrations, writers' seminars, performances, talks, and a 'pub' quiz full of the unexpected. Guests include Sally O'Reilly, Megan Rooney, Audrey Reynolds, David Raymond Conroy, Lucy Vann, and Daisy Hildyard.

Hosted by Flat Time House in collaboration with MA Writing students from the Royal College of Art.

Roar Vol. I - Naz Balkaya (Panicattack Duo), Giulio Dal Lago, Marta Melià

Roar is a series of events curated by trans- which explore the political implications of sound within our visual-saturated daily life. Through conversations, spoken word or live performances, artists, theorists and mediators will exchange thoughts, practices and debates questioning the automatisation of language and behaviours, while investigating the non-functional nature of human voice.

To accompany The Psychopathic Now! on Saturday 8th December FTHo is hosting a reading group with Emmy Beber followed by a film screening event hosted by Jamie Sutcliffe. You are welcome to attend one or both events. Events are free but booking is required for the reading group.

1-3pm: Reading Group with Emmy Beber NOW FULLY BOOKED

Writer Emmy Beber, editor of The Bodies That Remain (Punctum, 2018), leads a reading group based on Jeff Nuttall’s Bomb Culture, extrapolating a bodily politics of frailty, vulnerability and resilience from the post-atomic condition described by Nuttall's evocative text. Readings will be drawn from Bomb Culture and both contemporaneous and contemporary sources. You are welcome to stay and attend the film screening afterwards.

4-6pm: Film Screening with introduction by Jamie Sutcliffe

Writer and exhibition co-curator Jamie Sutcliffe introduces a selection of films that parenthetically book-end Bomb Culture’s political, psychological and aesthetic concerns. Lindsay Anderson’s March to Aldermaston (1959) and Jamie Wadhawan Cain’s Film (1969) record a journey from popular anti-nuclear demonstration to an interest in the possibilities of anti-psychiatry and the insurrection ‘of a million minds’.

FTHo will take part in Table Share: a shared table for invited artists and independent publishers. Each publisher shares the table with another for 2 – 3 hour time slots throughout the duration of the book fair.

The new publication documents The Bad Vibes Club's programme of events at Flat Time House and features contributions from Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau, Hamish MacPherson, Sophie Mallett, Tessa Norton, Residence Kitchen (Jonathan Hoskins and Susannah Worth) and Kathryn Siegel. The Bad Vibes Reader is designed by Flaminia Rossi and edited by Beth Bramich and Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau.

Residence Kitchen is a project started by Jonathan Hoskins and Susannah Worth last year. It's an ongoing, non-regular events series for working (and eating) through problems of organising, including empowering introversion. Each event is 'scored': Jonathan and Susannah plan things (centred on food) that will be going on over the course of each event, to make it a space ripe for tackling these problems. They're keen for the project to be a space where people with these common concerns can come together repeatedly, over time, towards a more cumulative understanding than just one event can allow.
