Following her N-U Graduate residency at Flat Time House this spring, Rose Parish and collaborator Sophie Mallett present the Legendary Jobs Reading Room. The reading room is ‘an accessible blip in the time frame of some of the most important issues affecting us through the wake of the zero hour contract’, collating books, publications and ephemera around issues of employment and unemployment within the arts, and more generally to roles such as volunteering and placements.

Contributors to the reading room include:

Doubleplusgood Books
Cafe Royal Books
The Public Zine Library
Ania Bas
Robbie Judkins
Peter Leonard Cox

The Legendary Jobs Reading Room will launch with 'Legendary Stories: the bit on the side', an informal discussion of the nature of employment for artists. The discussion will form part of a series that looks at unemployment in a wider context. Speakers include artists Simon Bayliss, Rosalie Schweiker and Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau. The artist (acting as customer assistant) will be serving legendary jobs unemployed/employed beers/ciders attached with a free Legendary Jobs 'zine.

The reading room will be open on Saturday 2 August 1pm onwards as well as during all Summer School events and by appointment throughout August.

This event is free however booking is essential.
