Scene Three: The Square

Wednesday 13 May, 7.00pm. Offsite at the Peckham Plex

Flat Time House presents the third event of The Best Scene is Off-Screen, a monthly programme of film, performance and discussion, off-site at the nearby Peckham Plex. Responding to research conducted for The Movie Movie Show (The Pneuwritten) by John Latham and by the Eventstructure Research Group led by Jeff Shaw, the programme looks at the potential for a theatre of the everyday.

Moving from I to WE an evening of readings from the WE (Not I) sessions

WE (Not I) is a series of collaborative working meetings, presentations, and events of over 40 female artists, writers, curators and thinkers that will produce and distribute content addressing questions around the role of “We” in contemporary art practice.

THE John Latham's 1976 roller canvas 'THE' will be on show at FTHo 9–20 March.

The work is presented as part of 'What do you mean by the?' – An infinitely small talk as dinner began to break up, an event by Graeme Thomson & Silvia Maglioni alongside their current exhibiton at The Showroom it took forever getting ready to exist: UIQ (the unmaking-of) which runs until 28 March.

Giant Step Publication Launch

Reading Rye Lane in Reverse

Anna Best will lead Reading Rye Lane in Reverse, tracing her inaugural sound-walk back from Flat Time House to its starting point at Peckham Platform.

The Fabricator’s Tale and Other Stories Hayward Gallery Project Space

As part of Dr Sinclair's Drawer, Flat Time House and Book works present The Fabricator's Tale and Other Stories; performed readings from Katrina Palmer, Samuel Hasler, Francesco Pedraglio and Sarah Tripp.

WHY EDIT? APPROACHES TO EDITING IN INDEPENDENT ART PUBLISHING

This workshop will act as an introduction to the process of editing in relation to artists’ books, covering questions relating to both writing and images, collaborative writing practices, rules and protocol, grammar and the spoken word, as well as the more nitty-gritty issues regarding collating texts, images, captions, and proofing.

Units of Attention: Juliette Blightman & Robin Watkins

Saturday 30 August 7–10pm

A newly commissioned collaboration for Flat Time House, Berlin based artists Juliette Blightman and Robin Watkins will create a composition of live and recorded sound that responds to both the house and its garden, reactive to the fixed and changing elements of the building, the audience and the falling dusk.

'Nothing brings people closer than a common enemy’

This one-day workshop will discuss the contradictions of defining anti-social behaviour and speculate on the potential for common enemies to polarise and strengthen social groups.
