FTHo

John Latham transformed 210 Bellenden Road into a ‘living sculpture’ in 2003, naming it Flat Time House (FTHo) after his theory of Flat Time. A giant cantilevered book emerges through the glass facade of the building. Inside, Latham assigned the rooms with the anthropomorphic attributes of the living body, with the aim of taking visitors on a metaphysical journey. Until his death in 2006, Latham opened his door to anyone interested in thinking about art. In 2008, the Latham family opened Flat Time House to the public as a gallery, archive and centre for alternative learning.

After being threatened with closure, the future of Flat Time House was secured in 2016 by the generous intervention of The Dino and Ernesta Santarelli Foundation. The Foundation now own the property that accommodates Flat Time House, allowing Flat Time House to operate completely independently in the original studio and home of John Latham. 

Now, more than ever, Flat Time House is looking to the future and developing ambitious and innovative programming. As a registered charity, Flat Time House needs to raise a significant amount each year from donations, as well as from funding bodies, trusts and foundations in order to continue its output of public exhibitions and events.
