Søren Rye
Residency Announcement

Winter–Spring 2026

Flat Time House's current artist-in-residence is Søren Rye. Søren will spend his time at FTHo working in the studio and exploring the archive, while continuing ongoing research at the Warburg Institute on the relationship between artworks and their photographic reproduction. He is particularly interested in what photographic documentation cannot convey, and how this absence creates space for projection and narrative. Søren will move between the Warburg Institute and Flat Time House, both organisations sharing a commitment to experimentation, though they work with knowledge through different traditions.

Søren Rye is an artist based in Copenhagen and London working in a range of media. He is interested in the stories we tell about art’s potential to influence society and the recurrence and rejection of ideas within art history. Søren holds a MFA from the Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

Søren runs Saaalt, an experimental space in a Copenhagen apartment where artistic and organisational roles are intertwined. Saaalt shows flat works, and each exhibition includes a piece by a deceased artist, alongside works by living artists.
