The artist will present five of his short films which use moving image in reciprocal and complementary relationship to a sonic score. Accompanying the screening Argianas has decided to include a special screening of Encyclopedia Brittanica 1966 by John Latham, with an audio commentary by composer/musician, author and curator David Toop.

Athanasios Argianas (b. Athens 1976) is a multidisciplinary artist and musician who lives between London and the Argosaronic Gulf in Greece. He will use his time at Flat Time House to consider John Latham’s theories of time and duration in relationship to sonic composition. Argianas has an interdisciplinary practice incorporating sculpture, painting, text, performance and often composed music or sound, and concerns itself with translations between media and the production of affect and hybridity.
Argianas’ work has been presented at The 30th Sao Paulo Biennial (Sao Paulo, BR), Performa13 (NY, USA), Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna, AU) Tate Britain, The Barbican, Camden Art Centre and The Serpentine Gallery Pavillion ( London, UK ) Fridericianum (Kassel, DE), EMST National Museum Of Contemporary Art (Athens, GR) and Fondazione Prada (Venice, IT). He released music under his mother’s maiden name Gavouna (2003-2007) under different UK labels, and is currently releasing music under both names on the Lo Recordings label. He is currently Resident Artist at Megaron Mousikis, the Athens Concert Hall 's visual arts centre Annex M.
